Hillsboro 4th Main Brownfield

The City of Hillsboro had purchased an underutilized corner lot in downtown Hillsboro in anticipation of redeveloping the property with a transit-oriented, compact, mixed-use project to fit into the City’s Downtown Plan.  When the City began to negotiate the sale of the property to a developer in 2011, HAI was retained to conduct a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA).

HAI conducted a Phase I ESA for a lush hundred-acre property located at the confluence of the Nestucca and Little Nestucca Rivers.  Used as a religious retreat from the 1930s through 2010, it had lately been unused and was available for purchase.  The Nature Conservancy was considering acquisition of the property, and requested a Phase I ESA from HAI as a component of their due diligence.

Safeway UIC Compliance

HAI provided technical and permitting support to Safeway Inc. for Underground Injection Control (UIC) system registration and compliance with the ODEQ UIC Program. HAI researched over 100 properties owned by the client, including stand-alone stores, stores in shopping centers, and a 65-acre warehouse and distribution facility. The UIC systems included drywells, perforated retention and infiltration systems, drill-holes, septic systems, and legacy drywells installed as early as the 1950s.

Former St. Vincent de Paul Property

The Watershed

Between 2001 and 2007 HAI played an integral role in the re-development of this former auto wrecking yard site in southwest Portland. Earlier investigations had already discovered that the site was contaminated with petroleum, metals, and chlorinated solvents. Community Partners for Affordable Housing and the Housing Development Center contacted HAI to assess the potential environmental development issues and costs for an affordable housing development proposed for this brownfield site.
